THE
BLACK EDITION ENGINE OVERHAUL PROCESS:
COMBUSTION CHAMBER
BALANCED
Watch the video ! (movie length - 1.5 minute)
Total cylinder displacement is critical in determining available
power in an aircraft engine. It is also critical that all cylinders have
equal displacement for smooth power delivery and engine reliability. When
cylinders are originally manufactured, the aluminum head of the cylinder
is cast in a mold, and irregularities in cylinder displacement can become
evident from one cylinder to another.
As cylinder displacements vary, an engine will have different
compression ratios from one cylinder to the next, a condition that can
cause varying independent cylinder fuel consumption, operating temperatures
and unequal stress on the engine which, in turn, can impact on reliability
and power output. "Power By Victor" technicians
measure the original new cylinder's theoretical compression levels by
fluid-filling the cylinders to determine the fluid capacity levels and
performs a simulated piston displacement test.
After testing the cylinders, we match them for equal
theoretical combustion balance prior to installation. This process insures
improved total power delivery, acceleration and maximum engine reliability.
