ISOTROPIC SUPER GEAR FINISHING
Aircraft engine parts may be tested by optional request of the owner via the use of Isotropic Surface Finishing to provide for more reliable magnetic test indications during non destructive testing of parts and provide for improved parts life. This process is performed to remove any unwanted surface roughness or manufacturing surface defects.
The Isotropic Process is performed by very fine polishing of the parts with surface polishing medias, utilizing hand polishing, buffing compounds and vibratory media polishing equipment. After this process the parts are tested for uniformity in accordance with the original manufacturer’s specifications. If any parts are found to not meet the original parts manufacturer’s specifications they will be rejected or repaired.
This special process reduces friction and heat build between gears which degrades engine horsepower and engine parts longevity.
Isotropic Super Gear Finishing can result in increased fuel economy, lower lubricant temperatures and longer parts life.
