Metal Surface Shot Peening
Engine parts are pneumatically shot peened by impingement of metallic, glass, or plastic shot for
the purpose of increasing parts fatigue strength and resistance to stress corrosion cracking. This
F.A.A. accepted process is accomplished by inducing residual compressive stress in specified
parts surfaces. As a result of this unique process, critical stressed surface areas prone to stress
corrosion cracking are shot peened to provide for longer lasting more durable part’s life.
